Scott's Selkirk was begun in the year 2000 as a millenium initiative of the Scottish Borders Tourist Board. It was so successful that local people who had been involved, determined to carry it on as an annual event.

Scott's Selkirk is run by a voluntary committee under the chairmanship of Tom Combe. Its members are: Rev. Jim Campbell, Helen Currie, Sheena Galloway, Eleanor McCudden, Morriss Manson, John Nichol, Viv Ross, Douglas Squance, Judy Steel, Simon Watson, and Stuart Wilson.
