Mr Tommy Combe, Chairman of Scott's Selkirk Association, commented on what a privilege it had been to attend such a prestigious and professionally organised event: 'Everyone involved behind the scenes had made such an effort to give the audience a good evening: the setting was first rate, the food was excellent and the entertainment of very high standard. The award ceremony itself was slickly managed and yet everyone was made to feel special'.

About the award itself Tommy said : ' I was absolutely delighted when Scott's Selkirk was announced as the winner of the Vibrant Communities Award. The beautifully crafted award is a work of art in itself and Scott's Selkirk will treasure it.  It was accepted on behalf of the whole community of Selkirk and we plan to display it in the Co-op in Selkirk so everyone can see it. The award was presented by Brian Taylor of Lothian Borders and Angus Co-op, sponsors of the award category.

I really feel that the Committee of Scott's Selkirk can feel proud of all the work put in to bring a winter festival to the town, and Selkirk folk themselves are to be congratulated for giving their wholehearted support which has made the whole project such a success.

The award is a tribute to a community which took a simple idea and came together to make it work.'
